Guidelines for Abstract Submission

  • The deadline for submission of abstracts for the parallel sessions is 14 May 2019. Please submit abstracts via the email to
  • You can expect to be notified online or via email once your abstract has been received for consideration. If your abstract is accepted, you will be informed by email within two weeks of the deadline. Please maintain a functional email address at all times.
  • Upon acceptance of abstracts, full papers must be submitted by 2 August 2019 for the parallel sessions.
  • Selection will be on a competitive basis.
  • The organizers reserve the right to make changes to panel allocations.

IMPORTANT: Early submission is encouraged.

Guidelines for Paper Submission

(applicable to presenters whose abstracts have been accepted for the parallel sessions)

  • Author’s Title & Name, University/Organization, Paper Title and Email Address to be stated clearly on the cover page of the paper.
  • Length –5,000 to 10,000 words, inclusive of footnotes. Please adhere strictly to this requirement.
  • Font – Size 12, Times New Roman
  • Single spacing of text throughout
  • Microsoft Word Document Format
  • Papers to be sent to by 2 August 2019.

We urge that you adhere to the submission deadline so as to facilitate your paper being made available at the conference (see below).

Guidelines for Paper Presentation at the Parallel Sessions

(applicable to presenters whose abstracts have been accepted)
The language of presentation is English. Each speaker will be allocated a maximum of 15 minutes to present their papers and 30 minutes to entertain the questions. The presentation venues are equipped with a computer and LCD projector. Speakers who wish to use Microsoft Powerpoint slides to present their papers should save their slides onto a USB drive or CD for this purpose.

Distribution of Papers at the Conference

(applicable to presenters whose abstracts have been accepted)

Please note that prior to the conference; the organizers will put the papers on a USB thumb drive. A USB thumb drive will be made available to each delegate. Hard copies of individual papers will also be made available to the audience at the venue where each paper is presented. Presenters will retain copyright in their papers and will be free to submit them for publication elsewhere. No papers may be cited without prior permission from the authors.

Publication of Selected Papers

Selected papers from the subthemes may be considered for publication for the CILS conference proceeding, the Indonesian Journal of International Law (IJIL). Papers will be selected by the editorial teams of the proceeding and journals, and will undergo the usual refereeing process.

Participants who wish to have their papers considered for publication will have to provide the final manuscript (not more than 10,000 words total) to the journal editors ( by 2 August 2019. This will give editors enough time to review the paper and give comments to the contributors prior to their presentations at the Conference.
